Summary

Internet of Things (IoT) is the interconnection of computing devices that are embedded in our day-to-day activities and these are accessed with the use of the Internet. The use of the Internet in such technologies enables them to send and receive data over the Internet and thus, providing anywhere access to the devices. Mathematical tools and techniques are solving real-world problems.

We believe Fuzzy Theory, Game Theory, Graph Theory, Queuing Theory, Reliability Theory, and Simulation can play important contributions to the IoT.  In order to use multi-criteria decision analysis, mathematicians developed a fuzzy information algorithm. In IoT, we use this theory in the place where input variables can be taken at continuous values rather than discrete values. Fuzzy logic and artificial neural network are important technologies in data fusion, in which the data of several sensors are combined in different ways. Similarly, we can use the Game Theory to choose the best available strategies from available strategies to minimize any of the maximum losses or maximize the winnings in any game, war, business competition etc. The game theory approach can be used to optimize work distribution and energy consumption in the IoT network. We can apply game theory to develop professional models. The game theory approach has also been used to investigate multi-tasking and data distribution in IoT. These mathematical tools support the use of the Internet of Things (IoT).  Mathematical tools and the Internet of Things (IoT) can be jointly applied to many areas.

This special issue aims to provide advanced theory and application for researchers and practitioners to contribute original research and review articles that present the state-of-the-art research outcomes, practical results, latest findings, and future evolutions of mathematical tools in IoT applications.
